Que ce soit en personnage ou en mode réel, CM Punk a été plutôt dur dans ses propos sur Chris Jericho, lors d'une récente entrevue pour ESPN.
Punk affirme que Jericho n'a jamais été, selon lui, "l'homme" de la WWE et qu'il a toujours joué le second violon.
Il mentionne comme exemple John Cena, qui fait vendre beaucoup d'articles promotionnels et qui contribue aux cotes d'écoute. Jericho, au contraire, ne représente pas l'ambassadeur de la compagnie.

But the numbers don't lie with merchandising, ratings and everything else. We're not trying to hotshot the title around or play hot potato with it. We're giving people a champion they can believe in.
