Cette légende, qui affirme ne plus d'intéresser à la lutte depuis longtemps (ignorant qui est John Cena et se rappelant de Shawn Michaels comme une recrue), a refusé catégoriquement l'offre.
Sal "The Big Cheese" Corrente, un promoteur de lutteur, a répondu ceci en son nom :

Since word has broken publicly, I can confirm that we have been contacted. I have been asked by Bruno Sammartino to announce that he will NOT be inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013."
